Tēnā koutou katoa. Join us for Cyber Skills Aotearoa Information Security webinar. 

Hear from cybersecurity industry experts on current trends, the importance of this topic in the classroom and career pathways in cybersecurity.  Owen Brasier and Julie McMahon from the Grok Academy team will provide an overview of the information security course content, links to the curriculum and how to enrol your students for this free online course.  

Cyber Skills Aotearoa consists of unplugged and online resources that provide kaiako and ākonga with classroom-ready activities and challenges to develop cyber security skills and dispositions. These activities are designed for students in years 6-13 and are available in English and te reo Māori. 

Activities and challenges are aligned with Hangarau wāhanga ako  | Technology learning areas, and raise awareness of cyber security careers. 

The first course of the Cyber Skills Aotearoa programme focuses on topics related to information security:

  • Sharing information via social media (Years 6-13)
  • Passwords (Years 6-13)
  • Phishing and scams (Years 9-13)
  • Multi-factor authentication (Year 9-13)

The full Cyber Skills Aotearoa programme consists of the following courses and competitions:

  • Information security course (available Term 2, 2023)
  • Web Application Security (available Term 3, 2023)
  • Cryptography (available Term 1, 2024)
  • Cyber Comp (Term 1 and Term 4 2023)

The activities and challenges are developed by Grok Academy, in partnership with CORE Education Tātai Aho Rau, the New Zealand Government, and industry.
