Do you have a great idea for a Hangarau Matihiko | Digital Technologies teacher resource? Ara Ako is a series of innovative and collaborative teacher resource creation workshops. Attendees will work in groups through the event to pitch and create resources to support teachers.
You will be working in groups for long days (and possibly nights). But you will be working with like minded and inspiring educators in this space, creating much needed resources. We want you to join us to innovate, engage, and motivate our teachers and students in the opportunities of being digitally capable in developing new technologies.

This 'Hika' or Ignite' event is a private launch of Ara Ako, to help establish and test the event before the public launch in April 2020. Read the event schedule below if you want an idea of this event's structure. The event is free to attend with all food provided, however travel and accommodation are not provided.
This years theme: Year 7 to 10 resources
All resources produced will be released freely after the event under Creative Commons on dthm4kaiako.ac.nz.

Find the resource idea that speaks to you and form groups of 3 to 5 attendees. Get to know your teammates, learn what strengths each other brings to the table, and create a team name.

Start brainstorm and planning what is possible and feasible for your resource idea.

Start prototyping and testing the resource, ensuring it will delight students and map to the curriculum effectively.

Meet together to discuss where you are up to, what you're about to work on, and any roadblocks you've encountered.
Assess what is or is not working in your current resource. Possibly test variants of your resource, or develop a rich curriculum mapping for teachers.
Unwind with a scrumptious dinner and delightful drinks at the end of a busy day.
Rooms will be available for those who wish to keep working into the evening, but you are welcome to head back to your accommodation to get rest!
The end is near, so start delagating those final tasks to ensure your resource idea becomes a reality!
